Cooperation between the Faculty of Law at the University of Konstanz and the and the Universidad Santo Tomás in Bogotá (USTA), Colombia
Since 1999 the University of Konstanz and the University of Santo Tomás de Aquino (USTA) in Bogotá, Colombia, have been conducting intensive research initiated by Prof. Dr. Dieter Lorenz, who was also a partner of this cooperation in the years 1999 to 2002 and who is still actively involved in it.
Since his appointment to the University of Konstanz 2001, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Martin Ibler has been working on the partnership and since 2003 has been oficially delegated for the cooperation with USTA. In addition the partnership is supported by Prof. Dr. Jörg Eisele (formerly University of Konstanz, now University of Tübingen) and by the German-Iberoamerican Criminal Law Group .
On the basis of an agreement signed in 2000 between the Faculty of Law of the University of Konstanz and the Universidad Santo Tomás, regular seminars with students, doctoral candidates and professors take place regularly in Konstanz and in Bogotá.
In addition, since 2006, German lecturers at the USTA have been holding lectures twice a year in the joint Master's degree course "Maestría en Derecho Público". In future, this collaboration will be extended to the new USTA doctoral program.
